Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My nephew underwent a brain MRI. The report says the following: A small one centimeter oval area in the right frontal cortex anteriorly, which appears separate from the rest of the cortex. What is the cause? No calcification is noted in it. The impression available from the report is the apparent sequestered focus in the right frontal lobe. However, focal cortical dysplasia (FCD) cannot be excluded. All the other report analyses are normal. What does the report suggest? Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to iCliniq.com.

I have read your query, and I can understand your concern.

I have read your query and reports (attachment removed to protect the patient’s identity). The MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) report reveals that an area of the brain that is not normal, but the cause of this variation is not known. There is no calcium deposition. This condition can be due to congenital causes. This is the maximum I can infer from the report you sent. If you give details like the reason for which the scan was taken, and whether his developmental milestones are normal, a better diagnosis can be made.

I hope this information will be helpful.

Thank you.
