Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had an injury before three years on my hip and I am now about to undergo a surgery due to issues with my discs that started when I injured my hip flexor. I just had an MRI today and would like a radiologist to view my images and send me a report on the findings.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Your MRI both hips show imaging following features,

1. Subchondral edema involving bilateral femoral heads extending up to bilateral femoral necks

2. No depression of head of femur or crescent sign seen in the present MRI

3. No displaced fracture is seen.

4. Visualized soft tissues appear normal.

These findings are concerning for grade II of avascular necrosis of femur. If you have any doubts, please feel free to discuss.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

What does this mean in basic terms? Is it something to be concerned with, and can it be treated?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

It requires attention and control over the progress of necrosis within the involved bones. It means that the blood supply to the bone is compromised and is causing progressive degeneration.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
