Mucormycosis

Fungal molds of mucormycetes cause rare and deadly mucormycosis. Inhalation of these fungal spores affects the sinuses and lungs. In normal people, the body's natural immunity fights it off, but in people under medications to suppress their immunity or have weakened immune system due to other illnesses, mucormycosis leads to black nasal discharge, facial swelling, shortness of breath, black lesions on the palate and nasal bridge, nasal blockage, fever, and headache. Based on the site affected, there are rhinocerebral, gastrointestinal, pulmonary, and cutaneous mucormycosis.
