Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been ill for the past five to six days and seem to gradually be getting better. I had a very strong fever the first night, then very mild fever and lots of diarrhea over the last three days, but yesterday I noticed there was a lot of blood but also last night I managed to get the longest sleep. I only had to go to the toilet once and only a little blood and this morning almost nothing. Should I be concerned?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You are likely to be suffering from dysentery. It is like bloody diarrhea, fever, and loose stools indicating you are having an infection going on. I would like you to get a CBC (complete blood count), stool routine and microscopy tests also done. Till then you should drink ORS (oral rehydration solution) to avoid any dehydration. Regarding blood in stools today I think it will resolve with the proper antibiotics.

Take Ofloxacin 200 mg twice a day, Metronidazole 400 mg thrice a day for five days, Paracetamol 500 mg for fever SOS, and tablet Pantoprazole 40 mg twice daily for five days after consulting a specialist and with their consent. Avoid eating spicy foods and a fatty diet.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
