Hello doctor,

My daughter was born with MCDK. Now she is five years old. She was under homeopathy medicines. She is very active and has a normal weight. Before a month she had a very high cold and fever. When tested her blood urea was 62 mg/dl and in the second test, it reduced to 50mg/dl. Yesterday again I took her blood test and the urea rises to 79 mg/dl. Other things include her albumin being nil and her creatinine value of 1.3 mg/dl. I also forgot to mention that she now possesses a single-functioning kidney.

Please give me your advice. I am totally depressed because of this situation.

Please know the following result of a study on children with one-sided MCDK. The majority of MCDK kidneys completely disappear with time and those children with an involuted MCDK and contralateral kidney hypertrophy, normal blood pressure, urinalysis, and estimated glomerular filtration rate can be discharged from regular follow-up. From the series of several ultrasound scans, it was concluded that 33 % of the MCDK kidneys had completely resolved at two years of age, 47 % at five years, and 59 % at ten years.
