Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I was feeling spasms on my face especially the cheek and the muscles surrounding the lips. My jaws were paining. I was unable to chew food either. I have always had this habit of grinding teeth. I think I should stop that now. Even now that feeling is there but it is not as profound as it was last night. I was diagnosed with anxiety disorder earlier this year.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Facial spasm most common cause is facial nerve irritation or nerve injury. Second can be due to tetany due to hypocalcemia. The third can be due to temporomandibular joint pain. So, we need to rule out all these causes. Kindly tell us about any recent infection that you had. Send carotid doppler report, if you have done. Start tablet CBZ 300 mg OD for four weeks.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Recently, for some two months, I had a fungal infection in my wrist which healed after medication. I usually do not drink these days but I drank a lot the day before with my college friend and did not sleep the entire night. I eventually slept yesterday night after taking Clonotril.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Stop smoking and alcohol first as they aggravate this condition a bit. Next, go for lipid profile testing and ECG. You can start tablet Ecosprin 75 mg PO OD if any ECG changes are there.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
