Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I contracted microplasma and microplasma hominis. I had this from my partner since last six months and was treated. A future test confirmed it had gone away after treatment. A new test has shown it has come back. Can you advise if this can return naturally if neither of us has it or does one of us has to have had sex with an infected person? I do not know if it is an STD or natural bacteria. Please, can you help?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Are there any symptoms?

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Yes, but I just want to know if microplasma genitalium has to be contracted through my partner having sex with someone else or do we carry it. Also, what is the incubation period from infection to symptoms?

Please guide.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The exact incubation period is unknown but it can extend from 1 to 4 weeks. It is not necessary to have symptoms while having mycoplasma and also drug resistance is very common in cases of mycoplasma. So, it is a possibility that it was never eradicated. It is a sexually transmitted disease but it can remain dormant too in the vaginal wall.

Take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
