How to cure pain and stiffness in the neck, shoulder, and head muscles experienced after discontinuing gym sessions?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I was doing exercise in the gym with heavy weight lifting. When I stopped, I got a problem with my shoulders, neck, and head. I feel pain, stiffness in the neck and shoulder, and a frontal pressure headache. When I rotate my hands, I feel my muscles overlapping with sounds. I can feel pain. Please advise whether this is a neurological problem or a muscle problem and what I should do. For pressure headaches, I performed an MRI, which was clear. I have already taken some painkillers and even Tryptizol tablets but no relief.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concerns. You have musculoskeletal pain due to severe muscle spasms. You should not worry about any neurological cause.

I advise warm massages twice daily and usage of deep heat cream thrice daily for two weeks. Physiotherapy sessions will also be very helpful. You can take Baclofen 10 mg thrice daily after consulting a specialist and with their consent.

For further advise, please do not hesitate to follow up.
