Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been masturbating since childhood, and for the past ten years, I have been experiencing nocturnal emissions. Nowadays, I masturbate only two or three times a month, but I still experience nocturnal emissions. During these episodes, I dream for two or three minutes, and the phenomenon occurs. Additionally, the duration of sperm release during masturbation is low, typically after three or four minutes. What should I do?

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Wet dreams, also known as nocturnal emission, are normal occurrences. They can be triggered by increased erotic stimuli, whether mental, physical, or visual, without engaging in sex or masturbation. At your age, testosterone production is typically high, resulting in the production of approximately 20,000 sperm every minute, leading to significant semen production. This excess semen needs to be released either through masturbation or sex; otherwise, it may occur spontaneously during deep relaxation, such as during sleep. Understanding the cause makes treatment easier. To reduce the frequency of erotic stimuli, consider the following:

  1. Limit intake of caffeinated beverages and foods in the late afternoon and evening, as caffeine can stimulate the brain and lead to erotic dreams.
  2. Take a cold shower before bedtime to decrease excessive sensitivity in the genital region.
  3. Manage and reduce stress levels, as stress can exacerbate various issues, including nocturnal emission. Maintaining lower stress levels is essential for a peaceful night's sleep.
  4. Avoid sleeping on your back or stomach, as these positions are associated with sleep orgasms. Instead, try sleeping on your side.
  5. Engage in regular exercise to relax your body and mind. Excessive tension, anxiety, and physical fatigue can increase the likelihood of sleep orgasms.
  6. Refrain from watching or reading erotic content before bedtime, as these can stimulate both the body and mind, leading to wet dreams during sleep.
  7. For a temporary solution, consider using tablet Paroxetine 10 mg once nightly for 15 days. Consult a specialist doctor, talk to them, and then take the medication.

I hope this information helps you.

Thanks for using icliniq, and have a nice day.
