Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 27 weeks pregnant. Is my amniotic fluid normal or high? I hope there is no chance of any birth defect in my baby. My NIPT (noninvasive prenatal testing) test was normal. Also, my level 1 and level 2 scans were normal. Please check my report. Also, there is some problem with the artery.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

At this stage, we do not look for anomalies. If NIPT is normal, then you can be 99 percent sure that there is no anomaly. Also, the level 1 and 3 scans have been normal which is reassuring. The liquor is fine and nothing to panic about (attachment removed to protect patient identity). The uterine artery shows a change in blood flow which may cause growth restriction in the coming weeks for the baby and also may indicate a high maternal blood pressure. For now, the baby is fine.

Monitor your blood pressure daily and also check your blood sugars every fortnight. Go for the scan every 15 days or four weeks as suggested by the doctor to check growth and doppler. Better to take steroid injection at 30 weeks or so for respiratory lung maturity of the baby. An anticipation of a preterm delivery can be made and kept in mind. Plan a delivery in a set up with good ICU (intensive care unit) care. Keep a daily fetal movement count strictly. Report to the doctor immediately if you have vomit, headache, reduced movements of baby and high BP.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I hope there is nothing to worry about amniotic fluid. Secondly, are my blood pressure and sugar low or both in a normal range? How many movements should I count? I mean how much is normal and what is the right way to count them?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

If liquor is more than 20 then you need to worry and rule out diabetes. Also, a count of 12 to 15 movements a day is good. You have to count one hour after food. Every time you have a meal the following hour movements will be maximum. So three to three movements for three to four times a day is good.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
