Can a nasal pack and antibiotics help in managing a nasal injury?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Last week, I had a sneeze and held it in. Later that day, I noticed some brown-colored blood coming out of my nose, and when I got into bed, my nose was dripping blood. I cleaned my nose, and it seemed to stop that night. Now, it has been a while, and I still experience a bit of bleeding when I am brushing my teeth in the morning. Should I see a doctor? Please suggest.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I am very sorry to hear about your medical condition. Please do not worry; I am here to take care of you. Regarding your symptoms, it appears that you may have developed a nasal injury due to holding in a sneeze. I recommend continuing to use a nasal pack mixed with 0.1% Adrenaline solution. Additionally, please take the following medications:

  1. Tablet Metronidazole 400 mg orally, three times a day.
  2. Capsule Co-Amoxiclav (Amoxicillin and Clavulanic acid) 625 mg orally, twice daily.
  3. Tablet Vitamin K 4 mg orally as needed.

Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her, and take the medicines with their consent. If your symptoms persist, please schedule another appointment for follow-up via chat, phone, or video consultation.

Thank you for using iCliniq, and have a nice day.
