Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have been showing obvious signs of thrush after heavily using an inhaler during a cough. I had been taking Nystatin but had a minor allergic reaction (a couple of hives) and was directed to discontinue. Since then, I have noticed spots on my tonsils. Now swallowing feels like I am trying to swallow a pearl necklace. Swallowing is painful and uncomfortable. I have an appointment with an ENT in 72 hours. I am wondering if I should seek a more immediate consult since my recent symptoms have developed in the last 24 hours.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern. Throat infection after inhaler usage is a common complication. The white spots on the tonsils can be fungal or bacterial infections. I suggest you do the following: 1. Take Hexidine (chlorhexidine) gargles. 2. Apply candid mouth paint (Clotrimazole) to oral mucosa and leave for at least 15 minutes. 3. The best would be to get examined yourself examined by an ENT. You can send me the pictures of your throat medicines so that I can prescribe medicines. Thank you for consulting me. You can always come back and reach me at icliniq.com.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
