Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
My AMH is 1.8, and I have PCOS.
Can I take an Ovigyn-DSR tablet once a day?
Can Ovigyn-DSR tablet be used for PCOS and simple ovarian cysts?
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Ovigyn-DSR is a hormone tablet- DHEA, which is supposed to awaken the sleeping ovarian follicles.
Every female has the highest number of eggs (7 million) in her mother's womb at 20 weeks. At birth, it is two to four million eggs, then at adolescence, it is 1 million eggs, and women ovulate 400 to 450 times in a lifetime. In the race for ovulation, 8 to 10 eggs are sent for rupturing every month, out of which only the healthiest at sent and best among them will ovulate, so you can imagine the number of healthy eggs after every period will be less than the previous cycle. By 35 years, most of the best eggs are over, not fully over. By 40 years, most of them are over. There are exceptions, but the highest-aged mother is 45 years old.
You are saying your eggs are low. From the AMH value expected by your age, PCOS is just the opposite. It is a condition where the eggs are so much that we will not be able to control the eggs coming forward for ovulation. So you or your doctor needs clarification. I hope you understand the condition; they are 2 opposite poles of eggs in ovaries and cannot occur. Cysts are due to poor egg quality. They are not rupturing and persisting as cysts. Your age is 37 years, your periods are getting late by a few days, the amount of blood is decreasing, and if a scan is done, the inner lining of the uterus is thinned out, the number of follicles in the ovaries is less than four to five. A lady has a fixed number of eggs. No medicine or procedure can increase it. No medicine has been found to date. If pregnancy is the issue, think of alternative modes. You can take Ovigyn DSR any number of tablets per day; it has no side effects it has no effect too. Your AMH is not so low. You can get a good number of eggs with proper stimulation with hormone injections, and pregnancy can be achieved. Tablets are not that effective.
I hope I have clarified your query, do write back if any more queries.
Thank you.
