Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I was diagnosed with high blood pressure, TSH elevation, and vitamin D insufficiency four years ago. My diabetic levels are not under control, and I am taking Vinicor D 50 for high blood pressure, Zita Met Plus 20 to 50 mg for diabetes, and Thyroxine for TSH levels, which I have been taking for a year. Because my diet is primarily rice-based, I would like to fix that with the paleo diet.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

As you have increased levels of blood sugar, blood pressure, TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone), and lack of vitamin D deficiency, I recommend you take the following drugs.

  1. Capsule. Unipower D3 or NeuroD3 (Vitamin D) 60000 IU (International Units) every Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday morning after food for four weeks.
  2. Tablet. Thyroxine (underactive thyroid) 100 mcg before breakfast for one month.
  3. Tablet. Q Rami (Ramipril) 5 mg two times a day after food for one month.
  4. Tablet. Nefguard (Taurine and Acetylecysteine) two times a day after food for one month.
  5. Tablet.Quogress (Omega 3 fatty acids) two times a day after food for one month.
  6. Tablet. Corus (multivitamin) two times a day after food for one month.

I also suggest that you follow the following low carbohydrate-high-fat diet:

Breakfast: 100 to 150 grams of nuts. This can be almonds, walnuts, pistachios, peanuts, or a combination of all these. They can be taken in any form - plain, roasted, ghee roasted, masala, salted, or soaked.

11 am: Cheese or coconut pieces or both.

Lunch: Greens or 5 eggs or vegetables. Vegetables other than potato, sweet potato, yam, and tapioca can be taken.

At 5 PM: 100 gms butter. It Will be difficult to take this on day one. Start with one spoon. Gradually increase the amount every day. Any butter can be taken.

Supper: Greens or vegetables or non-veg or paneer or mushroom. Fish, chicken, mutton, crab, prawns, and mushrooms can be taken. They can be taken in any form. With or without masala, fried, boiled, tandoori, or any form. If your social customs permit, beef, and pork can also be taken.

Coffee and tea can be taken without sugar.

The above schedule is indicative. You can swap the components at your convenience.

Avoid skipping your meals, and do not have large intervals between diets. Always keep roasted almonds, walnuts, pista, or any dry fruits in a bag and eat them even when you feel slight hunger. Eat till you feel full.

Avoid foods like

Sugar, honey, jaggery, palm sugar, kal kand, etc

Avoid carbonated drinks

Avoid foods like cakes, bread, biscuits, chips, wafers, mixture, murukku, etc

Avoid grains like rice, wheat, refined flour, millets and all cereals

Avoid starch like potato, sweet potato, yam, tapioca

Avoid fruits other than butter fruit, unripe guava, lime, and gooseberry.

Unripe guava, lime, gooseberry, and butter fruit (Avocado) can be taken.

Butter, clarified butter, panneer, and cheese can be taken.

Restrict milk and curd to less than 8.4 fluid ounces per day. Butter milk also comes under this category.

Restrict pulses to less than 50 gms (Grams) per day

Restrict cashews and raisins and dates to less than 30 gms (Grams) per day

I suggest you follow this diet, take a review test after a month, and revert for further reference.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.

Regards.
