Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a rapid heartbeat, and my heart skips a beat. And when I lay down, I do not feel at ease. I use to take Percocet and smoke weed a lot. But now I have stopped it for about six months. I use to take Percocet rarely, but I did take it. I went and got blood work done, and they said I was fine, but I did not tell them that I took Percocet or smoke.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thanks for reaching out to us. You are merely experiencing palpitations. These are sensations that make you feel like your heart is racing. They are often benign in young people like you, rarely caused by severe conditions. Smoking, alcohol, coffee, etc. are very common triggers. You have to cease from them. You have nothing to worry about. Avoid these substances and get regular sleep. You will be fine. But if it affects your daily activities, let me know, and I will suggest a medication. Best regards.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks for your reply. It has been happening for the past six months. When I sleep, I feel like I am going to die. When I overeat, I feel my heart is racing, and yesterday it was the worst. I wanted to go to the hospital, but COVID-19 is scaring me a lot.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I am sorry to hear how much stress you have gone through because of this. It is not worth the worry. I will suggest you stay off smoking of any substances or triggers. It has nothing to do with COVID-19. Coronavirus presents separately. You have no suggestive symptoms. I will advise you to take a low dose of Bisoprolol. It is a beta-blocker medication. It will help with your palpitations and anxiety. Take 1.25 mg, one tablet daily for two weeks. Do you have any history of asthma or respiratory disease?

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
