Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 31-year-old woman, and for eight years, I have been having these random panic attacks. When they hit, I get super anxious, my blood pressure drops down, my hands shake, and I start sweating and crying. These episodes typically last for 5 to 10 minutes. I think it might be anxiety. I used to take Fluoxetine tablets after consulting a doctor, and they helped. But, I stopped taking these tablets after only a month of taking them because I was worried I would develop a habit. I am wondering if there is anything else I can do or if I should start with the same medicines again. Any advice on managing these anxiety and panic attacks would be great.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. As per your symptoms, I think you are going through a generalized anxiety disorder with panic.

  1. If you are better with Fluoxetine, start it again, as there is a high chance you will see good results. But if not, then start Paroxetine 12.5 at night.
  2. You can take it as and when required like Clonazepam mouth dissolving medicine for emergency usage.
  3. Do start exercising daily, at least 45 minutes a day. And avoid smoking and drinking habits, if any.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
