Can overweight and PCOS cause sudden weight changes and less menstrual flow in me?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 23-year-old female with mild flow due to irregular periods. I have facial hair and sudden changes in my body weight. My weight is 55 kg and height is 4 feet 11 inches. How to increase the period flow?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You might be suffering from a polycystic ovarian disease (PCOD) or hormonal imbalance. It is commonly seen in girls of your age. You should reduce your weight and adopt a healthy lifestyle. Take an ultrasound pelvis and do a hormonal profile test. Consult your physician for evaluation. Medications are given after the diagnosis. Hair growth can be controlled by treatment.
