Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been suffering from PCOS for the past few years. My period is delayed for the past few months and I am experiencing acidity due to improper food habits. I am also feeling pain in my chest. Why so?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern.

The cause for menstrual irregularity and the delay in your period can be due to PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome), if there is no chance of pregnancy. Your ultrasound scan report is showing an increase in the volume of the ovary which goes in favor of PCOS. I suggest you get the following hormone levels checked.

1. FSH (follicle stimulating hormone).

2. LH (luteinizing hormone).

3. TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone).

These tests should be done on day two of the menstrual cycle. So, first, take medicine for withdrawal bleeding to occur and then get the test done. Acidity and chest pain or burning are due to spicy and junk food. Try to avoid these and reduce weight.

Kindly consult a specialist, talk with them, and take medicines with their consent.

I hope this has helped you.

Thanks and regards.
