Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I need help reading my ultrasound results. Can you evaluate my readings? Thank you so much.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have read your ultrasound (attachment remvoed to protect patient identity) and would love to discuss the report and your health condition with you. First of all, your ultrasound shows mild pelvocaliectasia. This means there is dilatation of pelvic calyces of the kidney. This can be due to congenital anomaly or due to urinary tract infection (UTI). Secondly, your ultrasound also shows minimal urinary bladder sediments. This is also suggestive of UTI. Rest all organs in your ultrasound are normal. So now, I would like to ask a few questions. Do you have a fever? If yes, then what is the maximum recorded temperature? Do you have any burning feeling during micturition? Do you have to urinate more frequently than normal? This will help me rule out UTI in your case.
Now coming on to investigations and treatment. You should get two more tests done, urine routine microscopy and urine culture. This will help us identify the bacteria causing UTI. You should start treatment with antibiotics like Nitrofurantoin 100 mg twice daily for seven days and Faropenem 200 mg thrice daily for seven days. For burning, you can take syrup Alkasure (Disodium hydrogen citrate) two tablespoons thrice daily. Take this treatment for seven days, and you will be completely fine. Do not worry regarding the abnormality in ultrasound. It is mild, and it will recover once your UTI is cured. I hope this helps. Kindly revert back in case of further queries. Thank you.
