Patient's Query

Hello Doctor,

I am a 20-year-old male having skin discolorations and scar-like tissue near the penis. Although it is not problematic for me and I am in good physical health, the discoloration and dryness on the skin near the penis bothers me. Because of this, I had previously visited a doctor, who informed me that it was due to a fungal infection and advised me to apply an ointment prescribed by him. I tried that, as well as several other ointments, but nothing worked. Please assist me with this issue.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

Based on your medical history and examination of your photographs (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity), it is most likely that you have tinea cruris (a medical condition affecting the genital, pubic, perinium, and perianal areas). To avoid this, I recommend that you take the following precautions.

Maintain a dry genital area by using ABZORB (clotrimazole powder). Avoid scarring that area by scratching. Change your underwear frequently. Wearing wet clothes or excessive sweating should be avoided. Avoid using any creams, whether normal or steroidal. Continue to take the medication even if you see a visible cure. Check your thyroid and blood sugar levels.

I also recommend that you take the following medications:

  • Tablet Trfy (Terbinafine) 250 mg - once a month.
  • KZ cream (Ketoconazole) 2 % - twice daily.
  • However, I recommend that you take the Terbinafine tablets after consulting with your local general practitioner or dermatologist.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
