Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a highway driver, and while urinating at the roadside, I experienced an unusual incident. Being circumcised with a dry penis head and wind blowing from left to right, I sensed my penis head tear as I released the urine stream. The tear extended from the bottom to the top, including the urethral exit, tearing halfway up the glans through the tendons holding the tip of the opening together. Is it possible for this to heal?

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

Certainly, a urethral tear can be mended with appropriate medical intervention. Given the specific location of your tear at the penile tip, involving sensitive tissues and tendons, the healing process might be intricate. It is imperative to promptly consult a healthcare professional for tailored treatment, which could encompass antibiotics to stave off infections, pain relief medication, and potentially surgical intervention to rectify the tear. The recovery span might extend from several weeks to months, necessitating meticulous adherence to your physician's directives concerning wound care and sexual activities. Prioritizing hygiene and evading activities that might exacerbate the injury or provoke irritation is crucial. While most urethral tears can resolve without enduring complications with diligent care, if you encounter lingering pain, bleeding, or discharge, it is advisable to seek immediate medical guidance.

I hope this will help you.
