I have swollen gum with occasional pus on my partially erupted wisdom tooth. Please help.

I have partially erupted wisdom tooth on the right side of the jaw, and the gum near that tooth is swollen, and occasionally I can see the pus. It is not that painful, but visibly it is swollen. I think it is causing me nausea and slight pain in the lymph node on the right. Please prescribe me antibiotics.

Kindly upload an image of the inflamed area. I need to see whether pus formation is evident or not and the progression. I suspect pericoronitis. Nausea and lymph node pain is due to infection. Upon seeing the image, I will walk you through the management necessary to resolve the issue once and for all.

It is better to suggest appropriate medication after seeing the affected area. Until then, use warm saline gargle.

I went through the images (attachment removed to protect patient identity). It is certainly pericoronitis involving abscess formation due to food lodgement.

Use capsule Sporidex 500 mg (Cephalexin 500 mg) twice daily after meals for five days, tablet Metronidazole 400 mg twice daily after meals for five days, Ibuprofen thrice daily after meals for five days, capsule Omeprazole twice daily before meals for five days.

Use Betadine mouthwash gargle in lukewarm water two to three times a day. Avoid sweet or sticky food. Brush twice gently. Start the medications. Gargle two to three times a day. Nothing to worry. The food particles will be washed, and the abscess will be reduced.

But the impacted third molar needs extraction. You will be fine after five days. Visit your local dentist and get an appointment for the extraction. As this might happen again after a few weeks. After extraction, the issue will be resolved forever.
