Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have an impacted wisdom tooth. Two days ago, the gum over the top of the tooth started to swell. I have tried rinsing it with salt water. Also, I have been brushing and flossing well. However, the swelling has not subsided and has also led to tender lymph nodes under my jaw, due to which I have discomfort during swallowing.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern and would be happy to help. You have a superficial infection of the gum over the wisdom tooth, called pericoronitis. I suggest you follow the below treatment plan:

  • Tablet Amoxicillin and Clavulanic Acid 625 mg thrice daily for five days.
  • Tablet Aceclofenac 100 mg + Paracetamol 325 mg + Serratiopeptidase 15 mg twice daily for five days.
  • Mouthwash containing Hydrogen peroxide for gargling three times a day for five days.

After the symptoms subside, I suggest you take an X-ray, after which the doctor can take a final call on the treatment plan.

I hope this helps.

Kindly revert in case of further doubts.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
