How to treat a perineal tear which is causing pain while urinating?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 18 years old, and I am experiencing small but painful perineal tears because of sex. I do not know what to do. I have been diagnosed with PCOS and endometriosis, if that makes any difference, and I have also been diagnosed with central sensitization. The tear bleeds and is painful, especially when urinating. Currently, I am taking Gabapentin 100 mg capsules, Sertraline 25 mg, and birth control pills.

Kindly advise.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It seems like you have some vaginal infection which is causing the problem. Please get yourself checked by a gynecologist and get a vaginal swab test done. Avoid having sex till then. Wear cotton undergarments, and loose lowers. Maintain personal hygiene and take plenty of fluids. Wash your private parts with normal tap water every time you use the washroom. Avoid using vaginal douches and creams.

Do get back to me with reports so that I can guide you further.

Take care.
