How can I conceive with polycystic ovaries?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 27-year-old female, I am having polycystic ovaries. I wish to conceive. Please guide me regarding treatment.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. As you have shared that you have a past history of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and is trying to conceive. PCOS is a complex disease but not difficult to manage once the hormonal imbalance is corrected. I would suggest to consult a gynecologist and take proper following medication, once your doctor has examined you and have ruled out any other cause she may start you on Progesterone pill to support the pregnancy, Clomiphene citrate to help induce the periods and maintain fertility, follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) analogue can be useful. Avoid stress, take healthy diet, drink plenty of water, do regular exercise and manage weight if overweight. Additional supplements like Folic acid, Calcium and Iron should also be taken.
