Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 26-year-old woman, 5 feet in height and weighing 92lbs. I have been dealing with post-nasal drip due to chronic sinusitis for about a month, and despite trying nasal sprays and antibiotics, nothing seems to provide relief. I have also been unable to keep food or water down for nearly a week, which has led to severe dehydration and required hospitalization for IV fluids. No additional tests were conducted during my hospital stay, and I was subsequently discharged.

I have also been experiencing vertigo since 7 months, persistent mucus buildup in the throat since 2 months, and vomiting since last month. The inability to keep food or water down has persisted for the last six days, which is now causing stomach pain. I have tried various remedies, including small sips of water, honey, and throat coat teas, but none have proven effective. I have been diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) and hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. I am currently taking Sertraline for anxiety, Yasmin birth control to completely halt my periods, vitamin D supplements, and antibiotics.

The concern I have is that I am rapidly losing weight due to my inability to eat, and this issue is becoming more critical with each passing day. Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

Your symptoms appear to be related to upper respiratory tract allergies following infections. I would suggest you not to rely solely on medication. I suggest the following:

  1. Perform steam inhalation three times a day to help with the congestion.
  2. Incorporate herbal tea into your daily routine, consuming it twice a day on a regular basis.
  3. Medications
    1. Take one Tablet Allegra M (Montelukast and fexofenadine) daily.
    2. Take one Tablet Zathrin (Azithromycin ) 500mg per day for 5 days.
    3. Use Naso clear nasal drops twice a day for several weeks.
    4. Take one Tablet Septilin (Tinospora Gulancha, Licorice, And Indian Bdellium) three times a day for 3 weeks.
    5. Tablet Geriforte (Ashwagandha and Chyawanprash) twice a day for 3 to 6 months to enhance your immune system and reduce the likelihood of recurrent colds, cough, sinusitis, and related issues.

Consult your specialist doctor, talk to them, and then take the medications as per their advice. These measures should provide significant relief. For the long term, consider improving your immune system to prevent further occurrences. Engage in yoga and pranayam and make walking a regular habit.

Kindly provide a follow-up after 7 days to keep us updated on your progress.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
