Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
My girlfriend and I had unprotected sex a week before her period cycle, and for protection, Tablet Unwanted 72 was taken within 24 hours. She was expecting her period today, but she has not had her period yet, and she also has lower back pain, stomach ache, and white discharge more than usual. Should we worry, or is it normal?
Please advise.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
If she has taken Tablet Unwanted 72 (levonorgestrel-1.5 mg), it usually causes bleeding within two to three days after taking it, which is the period date. The next period might get delayed due to the hormonal Tablet. If she did not get bleeding after taking the tablet, then it is a cause for concern.
White discharge is normal if there is no itching or foul smell.
I hope this helps you.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
What precautions should we take to avoid her pregnancy now?
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
There is nothing you can do now to prevent it. Just get a urine pregnancy test done. If positive, you will have to manage it accordingly.
Warm regards.
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
As I mentioned earlier, She got her periods once, but now, for another month cycle, she is late by one week and has brown discharge.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
You need to consider the date of taking the tablet Unwanted 72 as the date for the following periods in the coming month. Also, sometimes after taking the pill, periods can be delayed.
If you have doubts, you can do a urine pregnancy test.
Warm regards.
