Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 13 weeks pregnant. I have been taking Levothyrox 50 micrograms for eight weeks because of TSH levels at 3.91. I have now stopped Levothyrox and got another blood test suggested by my Gynecologist to see if I should pursue the treatment. Now, my TSH, T3, T4 levels, and TPO antibodies are normal as well. But my thyroglobulin antibody levels are 350 IU/ml. Should I worry? I do not know if this is safe for the baby and myself. Please advise.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Why you started Levothyroxine? Is it just because of your TSH level being 3.17? How much was your free T4 at that time? Do you have a history of hypothyroidism? Did you take any Levothyroxine before? If you just took Levothyroxine because of TSH of 3.17, then no need to continue your Levothyroxine as your TPO antibodies are also negative. In my opinion, even there was no need to take Levothyroxine just because of that much TSH in the absence of all other things. Anyway, now you have taken and stopped as well. There is no sign of anti-thyroglobulin antibodies. Do not worry about it. It is TPO antibodies that is important.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Yes, my Gynecologist prescribed me Levothyrox just because of TSH at 3,91. But I never had thyroid issues before. I did not have my T4 level tested that first time.
