Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am pregnant and currently in my second trimester. For the last two days, I have been getting an occasional sharp stabbing pain in my left ovary. I want to know if I should go to the hospital or if it can wait until morning. I am not really sure whether it has been the same or worse, but tonight it woke me up. The pain comes and goes. I tried Panadol last night but that did nothing. I have mild polycystic ovary syndrome. Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

I would like to tell you that getting stabbing pain in the ovary during pregnancy is not a normal condition; you may be having some bleeding inside your uterus. You have not shared with me the sonography of your second trimester. I would suggest you take Meftal Spas (Dicyclomine and Mefenamic acid) tablet, after your doctor’s consent, if the pain does not relieve. With this tablet you should immediately contact your hospital and get an ultrasound done to know the position of the placenta or if there is any internal bleeding and if is it causing any problems to the baby or not. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her, and take the medicines with their consent. If along with pain, you are having any bleeding then immediately you should get yourself transferred to a hospital for further treatment. I hope this situation is clear to you.

I hope I have answered your question.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
