Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I suffer with PCOS, I have lost 2 stone and now have a BMI of 33 and aim to get this lower. I have recently started Metformin to try and bring on ovulation/periods as I would like to get pregnant and have not had a period for over 1 year. A blood test this week indicated that my LH hormone is 17 IU/L. What must I do to fix this imbalance and get ovulating?
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Continue taking Metformin. Try reducing weight at least 30 lbs in 6 months. Have you got your AMH and FSH levels checked? Please get it checked. Also have they given you any medicine for withdrawal bleeding? If not then take medicine for withdrawal bleeding as not bleeding for one year is not good. Get an ultrasound also done on day 2 of your periods. Review with the above reports.
Patient's Query
Thank you doctor,
I have done the AMH test which was very high but is this likely due to my PCOS condition? The result was 92.8 pmol/L. My FSH was 5.7 IU/L while my LH was 17.3 IU/L. Does this mean anything? I have not been offered medicine for withdrawal but will request this.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Take tablet Regulate 5 mg (Progesterone) twice daily for 7 days. After stopping these tablets you will have bleeding in 7-10 days. Your AMH is very high but PCOS people have high AMH so do not worry. Continue taking Metformin and continue your lifestyle changes (diet and exercise). Also, start taking tablet Folvite from after two months when you start trying to conceive. In two months reduce at least 15 to 17 lbs weight and then start trying to conceive.
