Proctitis

Inflammation of the rectal and anal lining causes symptoms like tenesmus (frequent urge to defecate), pain in the rectum, rectal bleed, rectal fullness, abdominal pain, diarrhea, bloody stools, and rectal discharge. Sexually transmitted infections due to anal sex, other bacterial infections, radiation therapy near the rectum, antibiotics, and inflammatory bowel disease cause proctitis. Antimicrobials, anti-inflammatories, steroids, thermal therapy, immunosuppressants, painkillers, caffeine-free beverages, fiber-rich food, and plenty of fluids resolve proctitis.
