Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 19 years old and I am on the progestogen-only pill. This month I have not taken it as regularly; over the last two weeks, I have hardly taken it. I took a pill ten days back after not taking it for a few days and had sex with my boyfriend the next day. I cannot remember if I took it on the next day or the day after, and the next time I remember taking it was after four days. Over the weekend I had very light bleeding. The blood was mostly brown and light pink but only appeared when I wiped. Could this have been my period? I took a pregnancy test the following week and it was negative. Does this mean that I do not need to worry about a potential pregnancy?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

It would be better if you would send me your detailed history. It would be better if you go for serum beta hCG (blood pregnancy test) to check for your pregnancy status. If it comes negative you can have an implant, injectable Medroxyprogesterone for 12 weeks, or intrauterine contraceptive device Mirena for three years as a contraceptive based on your convenience to get rid of pills.

Do not take a similar hormonal contraceptive for years as those can give you side effects.

I hope u get my point.

Thanks and take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
