Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I always had problems with urine frequency due to stress but a week ago I had unbelievable burning and pain went to the doctor and he said its a case of prostatitis pus cells was 20 to 25/hpf my CRP (C-reactive protein) was 188 m/dL and I had escherichia coli bacteria even my PSA prostate-specific antigen level was 7.55 ng/mL, he prescribed antibiotics for 30 days and he said you might need to take it up to 12 weeks because my prostatitis comes back every few weeks.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. First of all, let me start by saying prostatitis is a very tricky situation to deal with. It is extremely common between the ages of 20 to 50 years and unfortunately comes back from time to time in some patients even after being treated. Please help me with a few details so I can understand your issue and give you the relevant advice. Please answer few questions; Do you have any pain after ejaculation? Do you have any pain in the area between your testicles and anus i.e. - the perineum? Do you have any pain in your testicles? How frequently do you masturbate or have intercourse? Do you have to be seated for long hours in a stretch? Are you diabetic or hypertensive? Have you had any surgeries in the past? Do you have any difficulties in passing urine such as straining to pee, or feeling of incomplete bladder emptying? What exact antibiotics has your doctor prescribed? Has he prescribed anything else other than the antibiotics?

I hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have no pain after ejaculation just my urethra burns. Sometimes I get mild pain in my testicles especially when I hold my urine and I get relief immediately after peeing. I used to masturbate daily before but not daily anymore. I sit for hours at work. I do not have any problems starting urine flow or straining to pee. One bad habit I had over the years is I do wash myself a lot after peeing and I did not dry my penis which I have read can cause bacteria to grow.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Okay, thank you for reverting back to some of the details, I would really appreciate it if you could answer the other questions as well.In the meantime, here is some general advice that you should follow: Avoid prolonged sitting - get up every one or two hours and walk around for 5 mins. Drink at least three liters of fluids per day. Increase intake of yogurt or citrus fruits and juices. Masturbate or have intercourse at least twice a week. You must understand that the complete eradication of prostatitis symptoms is difficult. With time you may have relapses and you will need to manage the symptoms. With proper treatment, you can expect up to 90 % relief. Kindly help me with what medications your doctor has prescribed so that I may suggest addition or subtraction accordingly.

I hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
