Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My eye has been droopy for five days and feels a poking-like pain. I get headaches. The night before this drooping occurred, I felt something go inside my eyes while lying in bed. I feel something in my eye, but nothing is there. Kindly help. Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

If by droopy you mean the upper eyelid has dropped down, then in medical terms, it is called "ptosis." If there indeed is one-sided ptosis along with headache and poking pain, and if you are also seeing double, there is a mild chance you might have to undergo a "contrast-enhanced MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) brain with orbit" to rule out any neurological issues. Meanwhile, after consulting your doctor, you can start using Carboxymethyl cellulose eyedrop one drop four times per day in both eyes for one month. Finally, get your blood tested for FBS (fasting blood sugar), PPBS (post-prandial blood sugar), and thyroid profile. Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Is it possible for corneal abrasion to cause droopy eye? Thank you.

Answered by Dr. Arnab Pal

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Any ocular irritation can cause the eye's aperture to become smaller if that is what you call droopy. I suggest you visit a local ophthalmologist; he will examine you for any foreign body lodged inside the eye and check for corneal abrasion or ulcers. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
