Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 18, and I had unprotected sex a few times last month using the pull-out method. I thought that I could not get pregnant with that method. I am stressed that I could be pregnant because I had some bleeding a week before my period. The bleeding was less than usual, but I still needed pads for two days. The bleeding was the color of my normal period, but it lasted for only three days and my period usually lasts four days. It happened eight days before my period. But, before the bleeding, I used Vitamin C 6000 mg a day for three days to induce my period. Could it have been implantation bleeding or vitamin C induced period? My period should be due tomorrow, and I am stressed that it will not come. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Rightly said, withdrawal is not an effective method. As the precum or pre-seminal fluid (the clear fluid that comes out before the semen) is rich in active with healthy sperms, it can be enough for you to get pregnant. I cannot tell you conclusively if that was an implantation bleeding as it is variable in different people. In some, it may just a few drops of bright blood or dark, thick blood or brown blood or like regular periods like bleeding or nothing at all.

Vitamin C in no way can stop periods or alter the bleeding pattern. Now the only way to know is to have home urine pregnancy test within next two to four days with the first urine sample in the morning. It will detect pregnancy as early as one day after missed periods. If doubtful or for confirmation you can also do blood serum beta hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin). It can detect the smallest of pregnancy even those missed by the urine test, anywhere in the body. Think positively, just wish to get periods tomorrow. If need arises have urine tested and be confident to see only that single line, which means you are not pregnant. This stress itself can delay your periods. So just keep calm as there is a solution for everything. All the best.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
