Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am worried about my teeth for some reason. I have attached a few pictures of my teeth. I noticed the tips and edges of most of my top and bottom teeth are translucent, and some of my bottom gums look slightly receded. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I saw the pictures attached (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity). Translucency at the edges of front teeth is a normal feature, showing only enamel without dentin sandwiched between it. Though it may look translucent, it does not mean it is weak. I suggest you get your teeth and gums cleaned to remove all calculus and plaque and then massage your gums in an upward motion for lower teeth and downward motion for upper teeth to stimulate the growth of gums to reduce the recession. You have only a little recession, so it can be stopped by taking care. I also suggest gargling with warm salt water twice daily to reduce infection.

Thank you.
