Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My left arm and left leg is paining for the past few days. I am feeling numbness and pain radiating from the chest, the back, and the side of the chest. Also, I have high cholesterol levels. Why there is a pain in my arm and leg? Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern. The pain you feel is unlikely to be related to your heart since the heart does not cause pain in the leg. Pain can be due to local trauma, joint inflammation, bony pain, or nerve compression. Detailed examination and possibly some neurological and radiological workup will be needed to dig into the cause. Based on your height and weight, you are overweight. Along with high LDL (low-density lipoprotein) levels, being overweight are risk factors for cardiovascular diseases. So, I suggest you do regular exercise, avoid sedentary behavior, eat a healthy diet, manage anxiety, take proper sleep, drink plenty of water, refrain from smoking and alcohol, etc. There is no need for cholesterol-lowering medicine at these levels without first trying the lifestyle measures. Lower your weight to a healthy BMI (body mass index). I hope this has helped you. Thanks and regards.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thanks for your reply. I just wanted to know for how long echo and TMT are valid. When should I get my heart checkup done? Please help.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Normal echocardiography remains valid for the whole life unless new symptoms are developed. TMT (treadmill test) and other functional stress tests remain valid for one year. I hope this has helped you. Thanks and regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
