Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am a 35-year-old male. I am a rheumatoid arthritis patient. I experience pain and stiffness in my body every day. I am taking anti-inflammatory medicines prescribed by my doctor. But still, I experience it heavily sometimes, and it remains normal some days.
Please help me reduce my pain and stiffness.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have read your query and can understand your concern.
Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune condition and has a progressive course left untreated. One can suffer severe swelling of joints, persistent pain, and, later on, difficulty in performing simple tasks of independent living.
You need to ask your doctor about both the tablet Methotrexate and biologics, which are now available and more effective in improving long-term outcomes than anti-inflammatory tablets used alone. Please check with your rheumatologist about biologic drugs; these are more effective in controlling symptoms and improving outcomes. These drugs are not a cure, though.
To stay productive, you need to do a regular range of movement exercises. Gentle stretches and deep breathing exercises. Yoga also has a role in staying flexible. Remember that the outcomes of treatment are still not guaranteed, but with the biologics and regular exercise, you can stay active and independent.
I hope I have answered your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards.
