Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have pain under the rib on the right side, just below the breast. I had gallbladder removal when I was 26 years old. I am now 32-year-old and when I place my hand below the right breast area and slide slightly to the right, I have a burning type of weird pain on a specific spot. I do not have any weight loss, fever, or chills, but vomiting has occurred. It is vague. I am not in excruciating pain, but it is on and off. It seems that alcohol and fatty foods aggravate it. I am freaking out because of this pain. Otherwise, I am healthy and slightly overweight. Kindly suggest as I am worried if it is pancreatic cancer.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

It seems that you have the answer hidden in the question you asked. First of all, do not worry about pancreatic cancer. It is highly unlikely that you, at this age, would be suffering from the same. You need to refrain from alcohol and fatty, oily, and spicy foods as much as possible because when our gall bladder is removed, our body finds it a bit difficult to digest fatty foods. You need to lose some weight. According to the BMI (body mass index), which is calculated depending on your inputs, you are a bit obese. Obesity might give rise to fatty liver disease, which may give rise to the symptoms you have described. A healthy diet and certain lifestyle changes would help you in the long run and relieve you of your symptoms. Do not think too much about a bad disease such as pancreatic cancer; it is highly unlikely as you do not have any symptoms pointing to the same. It is suggested that a basic liver profile be done along with routine sonography of the abdomen to detect any liver problems. I hope this helps you.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
