Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 15 years old. I have been getting frequent pimples and ringworm infections in the past year. I get pimples on my face, chest, and hair. They increase and become large on exposure to sunlight. I took tablets for the pimples but stopped a month before. I am currently using a lotion containing Clobetasol, Salicylic acid, Ofloxacin, Ornidazole, and Terbinafine for the pimples. I do not apply soap, face wash, or hair oil and try to minimize sun exposure. I have large ringworm rashes on my legs, stomach, and hands. The ring-shaped rashes are very itchy. I used capsule Itraconazole 200 mg (antifungal medication) along with a blood purifier but stopped taking them a month before. Currently, I use antifungal creams. What should I do to control the pimples and ringworm infection?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for the query.

I understand your concern. The medications you took for the ringworm help manage the fungal infection. However, you must understand that fungal infections take time to subside. I suggest you to follow a few instructions mentioned below.

  1. Continue applying the creams that you are currently using.
  2. Apply Sertaconazole two percent cream (antifungal cream) twice daily on the ringworm rashes.
  3. Use face wash containing aloe vera, glycolic acid, and vitamin E to wash your face.
  4. Apply gel containing Clindamycin (antibiotic) and Adapalene (vitamin A) on your acne.
  5. Follow up with the clinical photographs for further management.
  6. I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
