Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

The scar on my lip resulted from an incident when I was younger, causing my lip to burst. How can I effectively remove or lighten this dark scar that I have had for 13 years? Kindly suggest.

Answered by Dr. Suvash Sahu

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understood your concern. I have reviewed the pictures you attached (attachments removed to protect the patient’s identity), it appears that you have PIH (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation). I suggest you follow the below mentioned instructions:

  1. Use lip pigmentation removal cream containing Kojic Dipalmitate, Niacinamide, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, and Octocrylene. This cream is used to lighten, moisturize, and protect the lips against ultraviolet rays.
  2. You can apply the cream two to three times a day after consulting with your physician, using the tip of a finger or directly from the tube.
  3. When applying the cream, use a circular or back-and-forth motion to ensure even coverage over the lips.

I hope this has helped you. Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.

Thank you.
