Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am having delusions of grandeur. I am imagining that someone is watching me at home. I see shapes in shadows and light. I sometimes believe I am mighty, and people do not appreciate that. I like being left alone in my thoughts most of the time. I do not like socializing. I have conversations with imaginary characters all the time. I imagine my life in a different way. Do all these indicate I have schizophrenia?
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Let me first reassure you that your symptoms do not point towards Schizophrenia. I hope that would be reassuring. The information you have provided is very brief. It is not clear about your age or what you do. But there are other important information you have provided, like you feel powerful and do not spend time with others. These need further exploration to rule out any mood disorders. With regards to your imaginary characters, it is not uncommon for people to imagine things and find it comfortable talking to them, especially when they do not like socializing with real people. Having said that, this again needs further exploration to find out the level of impact it has on your functioning, and that way, we can advise you for other treatment.
