Hello doctor,

My brother is an alcoholic. He has been drinking from past six to seven years. I had convinced him to take certain medical tests. One test was conducted four months back and the second test after four months. During the first test, he was drunk the last night and the sample was taken the next day in the morning. During the second test, he drank two days before the sample was taken. We have not gone to the doctor now.

He complains about pain in the leg and sometimes about restlessness. He is not healthy as he sometimes weighs less than 132.28 Ibs. He does not eat much. Earlier he stopped drinking for two months because his father came to live with him. But, when his father went away, he again started drinking. We want to know what these reports indicate.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your post and investigation (attachment removed to protect patient identity). The person in question has transaminitis (raised liver enzymes) which means there is some minimal necrosis of liver cells on a daily basis which in long run over a period of 10 to 15 years may cause significant liver damage and result cirrhosis. So one needs to start taking care today. He should go for a fibroscan of the liver to see at what stage the liver is. He has to stop alcohol and do some amount of daily exercise.
