Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My sister has skin rashes, which look like chicken pox, but I am not sure. I do not know what to do. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concerns. Before I comment, I need more information.

  1. When did the rash start?
  2. Where did you notice it on her body first?
  3. Is it spreading from one site or starting all over the body simultaneously?
  4. Is there a fever a few days before or during the rashes?
  5. Are the rashes itchy or painful?
  6. Are there any joint pains along with rashes?
  7. What is the vaccination status of the child?

Please answer the questions for better consultation. Take care.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

It is present all over her body, mostly on her back and stomach. Some part of her shoulder, foot, arms, and even neck has rashes. The rash itches her a little. It is not painful. She had a sore throat previously, like, about four days ago. She is fully immunized.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Acute onset of rashes over the body with a preceding history of sore throat (viral pharyngitis or streptococcal infection) is primarily due to scarlet fever. This is the typical history one could have. Such rashes should subside by themselves in three to four days, or over-the-counter antihistamines should help relieve the minor itch. As they are not associated with fever (I assume there was no comment from your side), are not painful, and appeared all of a sudden and all over the body with complete immunization, I strongly attribute this to previous sore throat and are not much of a concern. Another possibility is some allergy, which is to be evaluated physically. I suggest you wait for 48 hours as they should subside on their own. If not and getting more widespread, itchy, or painful, kindly visit your physician without delay.

I hope this helps. Take Care.
