Is it normal to have a skin tag on the uvula?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I noticed a skin tag or a kind of elongation on my uvula. It does not cause any problems. But I am worried about it.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

There is nothing to be worried about your elongated uvula. There are few causes that can increase the size of the uvula. The causes are chronic smoking, alcohol consumption, GERD with LPR (gastroesophageal reflux disease with laryngopharyngeal reflux), dehydration, and exposure to hot foods or fluids. If the uvula is not having any problems like snoring and difficulty in swallowing, then there is nothing to be worried.
