Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 23-year-old male and for the last four to five days, I have been struggling to sleep, feel tired and sweat at times. I have anxiety at night and had a blood test done. My TSH level is 25 mIU/L while the normal range is between 0.4-5.0 mIU/L. Should I be worried, or will the values get back to normal with treatment?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

We are elated to have you onboard at icliniq.

I can provide some general information that may be helpful to you. A TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) level of 25 mIU/L is considered significantly elevated, as the normal range typically falls between 0.4 to 5 mIU/L. This level suggests that your thyroid gland is not producing enough thyroid hormones, a condition known as hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism can cause various symptoms, including fatigue, difficulty sleeping, anxiety, and sweating. If left untreated, it can lead to further complications. However, it is essential to consult with a healthcare professional who can evaluate your specific situation and provide appropriate guidance.

With treatment, such as medication to supplement the thyroid hormones, your TSH levels can return to the normal range. Thyroid hormone replacement therapy is generally effective in managing hypothyroidism. Your doctor will determine the appropriate dosage based on your blood test results and individual needs. I suggest you start taking medications at the earliest without which your TSH levels will not reduce.

I wish you good health.

Thank you.
