What are the best ways to improve the quality of sleep?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My mother has had a fever for the last few days. The fever has subsided, but she has been unable to sleep at night for the last four days. Currently, she is on tablet Resteclin, tablet Aciloc, and tablet Betnesol. Kindly suggest ways to improve her sleep.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern and would be happy to help.

I suggest the below do's, and do not's for a good sleep routine.

Things to do:

  1. Maintain regular sleep hours.
  2. Follow a regular exercise schedule.
  3. Wind up things before going to bed.
  4. If worried about something, write it down and deal with it in the morning.
  5. Keep the bedroom calm, dark, and quiet.

Things to avoid:

  1. Take a nap during the daytime.
  2. Watch the clock to know how bad your insomnia is.
  3. Exercise right before going to bed.
  4. Watch television in bed when you cannot sleep.
  5. Eat a heavy meal before bedtime.
  6. Talk on the phone when in bed.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
