Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am allergic to pollen and I am suffering from hay fever. I have been sneezing because of it. In the mornings I see a bit of phlegm with a little bit of red blood in it. Also, it is seen only in the morning. Is it related to allergy or something to worry about? I am reasonably healthy and my CBP is normal, which I got it done a month or two ago. I am low in vitamin D and vitamin B12 and taking some vitamin pills for it. Other than this I do not have any health issues. Please suggest me.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com. Yes, it is related to your allergy. Sometimes, excessive sneezing can cause capillary bleeding. There is no need to worry as it only occurs in the morning and is associated with sneezing. To manage your symptoms, try to avoid contact with pollen. I recommend using antihistamines and leukotriene inhibitors, such as Allegra 180 mg (Fexofenadine) once a day and Montelukast once a day. If your symptoms are severe, you may need to use steroids. I advise you to consult your specialist doctor, discuss your symptoms with them, and take the prescribed medication with their consent.

Do you have any cough or throat pain? It would be beneficial to get a chest x-ray in the posteroanterior (PA) view. Additionally, it is recommended to check your blood for bleeding and clotting time. Get a detailed check of your nose and throat by your medical practitioner to see any nasal polyp and other things.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I have had lung x-ray done before six months, everything was normal. Last time I checked my CBP and it was fine. I see a little bit of blood in the phlegm from mouth in the morning. I did not have much sneezing before. Please suggest me.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

  • Then nothing to worry, just relax.
  • I suggest you to take vitamin C tablets 500 mg once a day if you are not using now. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her and take the medicine with their consent.
