Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I work on computers for the past three years. I have constant pain in the neck. I consulted with a neurologist, he suggested for MRI scan. He gave treatment and said within 10 days I will get normal. I asked the doctor for any big issue he said there is no critical condition. 16 months later, I got pain in legs, lower back, upper back, hands, arms and weakness in hands and legs. I got consulted with a general doctor for this issue, he suggested for pelvic X-ray for me. It was normal and blood test was also normal and suggested some medicines for pain. So, please tell me what is this.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It is likely a spondylosis both cervical and lumbar. It is a spine problem where you get pain and other symptoms due to compression of nerves between spine. So it will cause symptoms along the course of nerves. It is probably due to prolonged sitting. Do you have any history of trauma to your spine, does this pain increase on neck movement, is it associated with tingling, numbness, needles and pins sensation, if yes then it further supports the diagnosis.

You will need MRI of the whole spine as X-rays are not informative. Repeat X-ray will not be helpful. The X-ray will show only if the problem is severe. The treatment for this is physiotherapy to release the nerve compression, traction, cervical collar. Till the time you can have tablet Neurobion forte once a day which is a nerve vitamin and diclofenac gel for local application. Also, you should get nerve stabilizer prescribed like tablet Pregabalin 75 mg which will stabilize the nerve and reduce pain, etc. You need to visit nearby orthopedician or neurologist for all these investigations.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
