What is normal recovery after a cesarean hysterectomy at 32?

Hello doctor,

I am a 32-year-old female. My second baby was delivered by the LS/CS method, a week after completing 36.5 weeks. The doctor also removed my uterus, as I had been suffering from a complication of central placenta previa with increta/percreta. And I had even bled a few little clots during the 29th week.

During the above operation, I lost heavy bleeding of about 4.5 quarts, for which six units of blood and four units of plasma were transfused, and I was admitted to CCU for ventilator support. After a few days, I was discharged from the hospital in stable condition. After arrival at home, my legs started swelling and also releasing vaginal blood spotting occasionally.

Besides, my above C-section was performed with a larger cut than my previous cesarean, which was done five years before, and the doctor has advised visiting for stitches (sutures) removal. Please share your opinion and advise me on the above case, including swelling, blood spotting, a large cesarean cut, and future complications on account of the above issues.

Please help.

I understand your concern.

Placenta previa with increta is a severe condition, so the uterus has to be removed due to bleeding. Swelling may be due to anemia or blood transfusions. Take one tablet of Lasix (Furosemide) once a day, which will cause frequent urination. Blood spots will disappear after a few days. Take a rest.

What about the baby? The cut was large because the surgeon first did LSCS (lower segment cesarean section) and then, because of bleeding, decided to do a hysterectomy.
